SPONSRD, the Answer for College Athletes Everywhere

Athletes have not been able to profit off of their name, image, and likeness as long as the NCAA has been around. That ends this year with new NCAA legislation and a change in definition of amateurism. SPONSRD aims helps NCAA student-athletes find and sign deals with sponsors looking for college athletes. In short, we bridge the current gap between athletes and would-be sponsors.

Intro

Today, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of SPONSRD, the best platform to connect student-athletes and larger companies looking to use athletes as marketers. Instead of using an existing social media app where messages are easily overlooked and brand representatives are often unverified, we believe a specific platform allocated to athlete-brand relations is necessary. We can ensure both parties that the user on the other end has entered certified credentials and is indeed who they say they are. Our app can provide metrics and suggestions for the athletes and the brands regarding similar deals that have taken place and provides a specific “Explore” page for each party.

Our Mission

Our mission is to allow athletes to monetarily maximize their status as an NCAA athlete during their short time in college. For many athletes, their college years are when they are most famous among fans. A select few sports provide fame after college for numerous members in the league, but it is hard to achieve the same fame in other sports without being an Olympic medalist. We give all athletes, regardless of degree of fame, a platform and an opportunity to use their status as an NCAA athlete to help them succeed.

On the other hand, we help brand companies connect with a previously untapped pool of marketers and give them suggestions based on who their consumers are. For example, Nike is unlikely to seek out a Stanford swimmer with 1500+ followers on Instagram, but other niche companies like Speedo may be inclined to reach out and look for a deal.

Impact

We see SPONSRD as a Win/Win. Athletes are able to make money from their name, image, and likeness for the first time ever, and brands are given new means of marketing their products and names. New marketers mean new audiences, too. Our goal is to have 1/3 of all NCAA athletes on our platform within 5 years of launch, and grow that number as more NCAA athletes and brands see the reach they are able to make.
